Understanding LuxyCredits


A Service Recovery Tool, Not a Financial Instrument

LuxyCredits function solely as a non-monetary store credit within our platform when we cannot fulfill the original gift purchase. They have no cash value and are not a financial instrument or stored value.


When LuxyCredits Are Issued

LuxyCredits may be issued in the following situations:

  • When a gift can't be fulfilled due to stock shortages or merchant issues
  • In the event of necessary gift returns
  • When there are funds remaining after a purchase
  • As a solution that honors the gifter's intention while providing you flexibility


Automatic Balance Adjustments

For minor differences between our available amount and the actual merchant checkout total (under $30 USD), we may automatically adjust your LuxyCredit balance without prior notification:

  • Deductions: When the merchant's checkout total is higher than our available amount
  • Deposits: When the merchant's checkout total is lower than our available amount


This automatic process works in both directions and ensures gifts are fulfilled promptly without delays for approval on minor amounts. For deduction differences of $30 USD or more, we will always contact you before making any adjustments.


Common Reasons for Automatic Adjustments


Automatic deposits may occur when:

  • Item prices have decreased or are on sale
  • The merchant's actual checkout total is lower than our available amount
  • Currency conversion rates are favorable
  • Sales tax is lower than estimated


Automatic deductions may occur when:

  • Item prices have increased since you added them to your list
  • The merchant's actual checkout total (including their shipping and tax charges) exceeds our available amount
  • Currency conversion rates result in higher costs for international purchases
  • Tax calculations differ from our estimates


To minimize unexpected deductions, we recommend verifying the merchant's complete checkout cost (item + shipping + taxes to your location) before adding items to your list.


Service Fees Apply

LuxyCredit purchases incur our standard service fee, just like regular purchases. This is because we function as personal shoppers for each order, and every purchase—whether made with LuxyCredits or not—requires the same careful handling, verification processes, and personalized service from our team.


When you use LuxyCredits for a purchase, the service fee is calculated on the new order amount and processed as part of that transaction.


Important LuxyCredit Policies

  • 3 business day processing time: LuxyCredits are not granted until 3 business days after a gift order enters our system. See here for more info regarding our processing time.
  • Balance Limit: The maximum LuxyCredit balance permitted is $5,000. Once this limit is reached, any order blockers may result in a refund to the gifter (minus our service fee, which will be deducted from your account). Exceptions may be granted at our sole discretion.
  • Spending Limit: The maximum LuxyCredit spending limit is $2,500 per 30 days. Once this limit is reached, any further LuxyCredit orders will be canceled. Exceptions may be granted at our sole discretion.
  • Expiration: LuxyCredits expire 12 months from the date of issue
  • Non-Transferable: Credits cannot be transferred between accounts
  • Platform-Exclusive: LuxyCredits can only be used for purchases through our service


Using Your LuxyCredits

LuxyCredits make it easy to select an alternative gift when the original can't be fulfilled:

  1. Login to your account
  2. Click the "Treat Myself" button under your desired wish
  3. Your credits will automatically apply at checkout


Self-Managed System

You are responsible for tracking your own LuxyCredits balance and usage. While we may notify you when credits are granted, please note that automatic balance adjustments under $30 may occur without notification. We do not provide detailed transaction histories of credit issuance or spending.


Important Guidelines

To maintain the integrity of our platform and comply with financial regulations:

  • LuxyCredits are not to be listed as items on your LuxyList
  • Do not request LuxyCredits instead of gifts, as they're designed as a backup solution
  • LuxyCredits cannot be exchanged for cash or monetary value
  • Intentionally adding gifts to your list that would result in LuxyCredits is prohibited and may result in account closure
  • LuxyCredits are not prepaid access, digital currency, or stored value as defined by financial regulations
