Gift Credit: How We Handle Order Exceptions
(Referred to as "LuxyCredit" in the LuxyList interface)
At LuxyList, we're passionate about connecting creators with thoughtful gifts from their fans while protecting privacy. Our personal shopping team handles each request with care. This policy explains how we handle situations when a gift cannot be fulfilled as originally ordered.
What Is Gift Credit?
Gift Credit is a service recovery tool — not a payment method, savings mechanism, or alternative to receiving gifts. It exists solely to resolve specific order exceptions, such as when a returned item generates a merchant refund. Gift Credit has no cash value and is not a financial instrument or stored value.
Our Priority: Fulfillment First
When an issue arises with a gift order, our first priority is always to get you the physical gift — not to issue credit. We will work with you to find a solution that results in an actual item being delivered.
When a Gift Cannot Be Fulfilled
If a gift cannot be fulfilled due to stock shortages, merchant issues, or other circumstances beyond our control, we will:
Contact you to select a replacement item from the same merchant. This is our preferred resolution and ensures you receive a gift promptly.
If no same-merchant replacement is available or suitable, and we cannot source the item elsewhere, a refund will be issued to the original Gifter minus our service fee.
At our sole discretion, you may be given the option to select a comparable item from your list from a different merchant. Additional service fees apply.
When Gift Credit Is Issued
Gift Credit is issued only in the following circumstance:
Returns processed through LuxyList: When a gift is returned and LuxyList receives a refund from the merchant, the refunded amount (minus any applicable fees) may be issued as Gift Credit.
Gift Credit is not issued for:
Out-of-stock or unfulfillable items (these result in same-merchant replacement or Gifter refund)
Requests to receive credit instead of a gift
Any reason at the Lister's request in lieu of fulfillment
Gift Credit Terms
If Gift Credit is issued, the following terms apply:
180-day expiration: Gift Credit expires 180 days from the date of issue.
Limits on active credit: LuxyList limits the amount of Gift Credit that may be active for a single account at one time. If multiple returns occur before prior credit is resolved, LuxyList may refund the original Gifter rather than issue additional credit.
Service fees apply: Standard LuxyList service fees apply to all purchases made with Gift Credit.
Non-transferable: Gift Credit cannot be transferred between accounts.
No cash value: Gift Credit cannot be exchanged for cash or monetary value.
Final approval: All Gift Credit purchases are subject to review and final approval by our team before fulfillment and LuxyList reserves the right to cancel a Gift Credit purchase. In the event we cancel a Gift Credit order, the total amount spent in Gift Credit will be refunded, including any applicable fees.
Redemption Process
To use your Gift Credit, select the "Treat Myself" option on an item from your wishlist, and check out as normal. Your gift credit will be applied automatically. Once the purchase is made, it will be reviewed by our team, and if approved, we will process the order.
Responsible Use
Gift Credit exists to resolve return situations — not as an alternative way to shop or accumulate value on the platform. To keep the gifting experience fair and sustainable for everyone, we monitor credit usage patterns.
The following behaviors may result in account review and, where appropriate, limitations:
Repeatedly declining available same-merchant replacements
Patterns of excessive returns
Attempting to combine Gift Credit for a single large purchase
Any activity that appears designed to accumulate credit rather than receive gifts
These situations are evaluated individually. Our goal is always to resolve gifts fairly. If there's ever confusion about an order, our support team is here to help.
Account Status and Credit Handling
If an account is suspended, restricted, or closed, any unused Gift Credit will be reviewed as part of the account resolution process. LuxyList will determine the appropriate outcome, which may include:
Applying the credit toward a pending replacement order
Issuing a refund to the original Gifter, where applicable
Forfeiting the balance where account closure is due to policy violations
Resolving the balance in another manner consistent with our Terms
Gift Credit is not a guaranteed asset, cash equivalent, or stored funds.
Changes to This Policy
LuxyList reserves the right to modify this policy at any time. We also reserve the right to deny Gift Credit issuance, refuse redemption requests, or refund the original Gifter at our sole discretion.
