Sometimes a gift doesn't go exactly to plan — an item sells out, a merchant runs into stock issues, or a delivered gift needs to be returned. When that happens, here's how we handle it, and how Gift Credit works.
Fulfillment Comes First
When an issue arises with a gift order, our priority is getting you the physical gift — not issuing credit. If a gift can't be fulfilled due to stock shortages or merchant issues, we'll first work with you to select a replacement from the same merchant. If no suitable replacement exists and we can't source the item elsewhere, a refund is issued to the original Gifter, minus our service fee. Gift Credit is never issued for unfulfillable items, on request in place of a gift, or at a Lister's request in lieu of fulfillment. Returns are the only path to Gift Credit.
What Is Gift Credit?
Gift Credit is a service recovery tool issued in one circumstance only: when a gift is returned and LuxyList receives a refund from the merchant, the refunded amount (minus any applicable fees) may be issued as Gift Credit. It is not a payment method, a savings mechanism, or an alternative to receiving gifts. It has no cash value and is not a financial instrument or stored funds.
Terms
- Gift Credit expires 180 days from issue.
- Active credit is capped per account; if multiple returns occur before prior credit is used, we may refund the original Gifter instead of issuing more.
- Standard service fees apply to purchases made with Gift Credit.
- Credit is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
- All Gift Credit purchases are subject to review and final approval, and LuxyList may cancel a Gift Credit purchase.
How to Redeem
Select the "Treat Myself" option on an item from your wishlist and check out as normal — your credit applies automatically. Once reviewed and approved by our team, we'll process the order.
Balance and Tracking
Balances are shown in USD in your account. LuxyList doesn't provide itemized transaction histories, so Listers are responsible for tracking their own credit activity, including issuance dates and expirations.
Responsible Use
Because Gift Credit exists to resolve returns — not to shop or accumulate value — we monitor usage patterns. Repeatedly declining available replacements, excessive returns, combining credit for large purchases, or activity designed to accumulate credit may result in account review and limitations. Each situation is evaluated individually.
Account Status
If an account is suspended, restricted, or closed, unused credit is reviewed as part of the resolution: it may be applied to a pending order, forfeited where closure is due to policy violations, or resolved per our Terms. Gift Credit is not a guaranteed asset.
Changes
LuxyList may modify this policy at any time and may deny issuance or refuse redemption at our sole discretion.
