Can I Change My Login Credentials?

No, you cannot change your login credentials on LuxyList. Your account is permanently linked to the Single Sign-On (SSO) provider you used when you first created your account - either Google, Apple, or Twitter.

Why We Use Single Sign-On (SSO)

LuxyList uses Single Sign-On through Google, Apple, or Twitter because it's the most secure authentication method available for our platform.

Security Benefits of SSO:

  • Enterprise-Level Protection: Major providers like Google, Apple, and Twitter have dedicated security teams, sophisticated fraud detection systems, and multi-billion dollar infrastructures protecting your login credentials
  • Two-Factor Authentication: SSO providers offer robust 2FA options that are more secure than traditional username/password systems
  • Reduced Password Vulnerabilities: You don't need to create and remember another password that could be weak, reused across sites, or compromised in a data breach
  • Regular Security Updates: SSO providers constantly monitor for threats and update their security protocols automatically - protection that individual platforms cannot match
  • OAuth 2.0 Standards: SSO uses industry-standard OAuth 2.0 protocol, which means we never see or store your password

The Trade-Off:

While SSO provides superior security, there is one limitation: your LuxyList account access is tied to your SSO provider account. If you lose access to your Google, Apple, or Twitter account, you lose access to your LuxyList account.

This is the security trade-off we've chosen to make - we prioritize the protection that comes from leveraging major providers' security infrastructure over the convenience of password recovery systems that are more vulnerable to attacks.

If You Lose Access to Your SSO Provider:

If You Lose Access to Your Twitter/X Account

⚠️ CRITICAL: Twitter/X Account Deactivation

If you deactivate your Twitter/X account, you will permanently lose access to your LuxyList account, even if you later reactivate your Twitter account. This is due to how Twitter's authentication system works with third-party applications.

Once a Twitter account is deactivated, the connection to LuxyList is severed and cannot be restored.

If You've Lost Access to Other SSO Providers

If you've permanently lost access to your Google or Apple account, you'll need to create a new LuxyList account with a different login method.

⚠️ Important: What You'll Lose

Creating a new account means you will permanently lose:

  • All gift history from your original account
  • Past order records and tracking information
  • Messages and communications with gifters
  • Account activity and delivery history

This information cannot be recovered, transferred, or restored under any circumstances.

What Can Be Transferred:

We can help transfer:

  • ✓ Remaining LuxyCredit balance
  • ✓ Your username and profile URL (if desired)
  • ✓ Wishlist items (you can manually save them to your new account)

Before Creating a New Account:

If you've lost access to Google or Apple (not Twitter), consider trying to recover your account first:

For Twitter/X users: Reactivating your Twitter account will NOT restore access to your LuxyList account. If you've deactivated Twitter, you must create a new LuxyList account.

We understand this can be frustrating if you lose access to your SSO provider, but this security model protects hundreds of thousands of users from account takeovers, credential stuffing attacks, and other security threats that plague traditional username/password systems.

Recommendation: We strongly recommend using Google or Apple for SSO rather than Twitter, as these providers have more robust account recovery options and are less likely to experience account suspension issues.
